School Hours
9:15 am – 3:30 pm (Regular School Days) 9:15 am – 1:30 pm (Early Dismissal, ½ Days) Arrival Arrival for all students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade begins promptly at 9:15 am. Students are to enter the buildings through the front door. Please do not drop your students off before 9:15 am! There is no one present to supervise students prior to 9:15 am. If you arrive prior to 9:15 am, you must wait with your child. Late Arrival The expectation is for all students to arrive at school on time. A student is considered tardy if they arrive after 9:40 AM. If your child is late to school, this poses a disruption that delays the prompt start of our school day. Repeated tardiness will be referred to our Truancy Department and may lead to a home visit, referrals to Juvenile Courts and/or the Department of Children and Families. Dismissal Parents/guardians are asked to wait at the front lobby of the building for their child to be dismissed at the end of the school day. Please do not go to the classroom to pick up your child. It is unfair to teacher and student to disrupt the learning environment for routine early pickups. Early Dismissal Early dismissals are discouraged because it is important to students' studies that they attend school for the entire school day. However, in the instance that an early dismissal is necessary, a dated note MUST be sent into school indicating: the reason for a pick up; the time your child will be picked up; and the name of the person responsible for picking your child up. |
School Uniforms
As we work to establish excellence as a school, our uniforms play an important part in this process. Students who are safe, secure, and learn the essentials of good citizenship are overall better students. Research shows that school uniforms support a safe and disciplined learning environment, which is the first requirement of any good school. All students are expected to wear school uniforms to school every day. Any non-uniform school days will be announced in advance through the school newsletter or website calendar. Shirts: Polo and dress shirts in navy blue. Logo preferred. Pants & Skirts: khaki, navy blue or black (NO JEANS) Jumpers: khaki or dark blue Sweaters: During the cooler weather, students may wear a vest, sweater or fleece in navy blue. Students are not permitted to wear hooded sweatshirts or sweaters (per NHPS policy). |
Meals
Breakfast Breakfast is served daily from 9:15 - 9:30 am at no cost to students. Please be sure your child arrives to school on time. Lunch Lunch is served daily at no cost to students. A monthly menu is sent home with students and is also available on-line at www.nhps.net. Your child may bring a bagged lunch to school if they prefers. SODA and CANDY are NOT allowed. Snacks Students may bring a snack from home to supplement their lunch or in the event that there is a designated snack time for the class. Again, we ask that you only send healthy snacks. No outside food may be brought in for special occasions or birthdays due to food allergies. You may give the gift of time and volunteer or bring in school supplies, books, games, etc. |
Transportation
Brennan-Rogers School does not handle any bus scheduling issues. All bus operations such as stops and schedules are handled by the district's Transportation Department. Please address specific transportation questions and request to the following: NHPS Transportation Department: (475) 220-1604 First Student Bus Service: (203)-772-0626 First Student Van Service: (203)-787-7433 Students should be at their bus stop 10 Minutes before the scheduled stop time. Please note that busses are considered “on time” if they arrive 10 minutes before or 10 minutes after the scheduled stop time. All students in kindergarten and first grade MUST be met at the bus stop by an adult (older siblings attending NHPS do not have this requirement). If an adult does not meet the bus for a kindergarten or first grade student, the student will be returned back to school by the bus driver.
